These instructors will provide group lessons and are available for private instruction as well. For the first hour of each meeting, the strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and harp study in separate areas of the Music Center. It is during that time that you will learn how to play your instrument. - Beginners may spend the first few sessions exclusively in the group lesson.
- You will also learn about music, how to read it and a little theory to go along with your lessons.
- We will not be able to accommodate guitar, non-traditional orchestral instruments or beginning piano at this time. Holy Names Music Center does have other outlets for those who wish to learn these instruments.
In the middle of each rehearsal there will be a break during which you may relax and perhaps enjoy refreshments (hopefully some of you will volunteer to lead this activity). After the initial startup (first few weeks), the entire Orchestra will meet for the second hour to play as an ensemble. The Music Center will provide the music that you use when the orchestra is together. You will be asked to obtain a method/study book or two for your group lessons.
